04/12/2013 Fundraiser for the Hope Foundation

12/13/2013

As part of their Civics, Social and Political Education  Project for their State Examination, Class Dearbhla with their teacher Ms. P. McDonagh organised a non uniform day in aid of the Hope Foundation.  This charity works with the street and slum children in Calcutta in India.  The students raised over €350 for the charity. The project ties in with the concept of Human Rights which is central to CSPE which aims to develop students' personal and social confidence, contribute to their development and prepare them for the responsibilites of citzenship. Well done to all involved!

22/11/2013 Deutschmobil von der Goethe Intitut an St. Vincent's Schulen

11/28/2013

The Deutschmobil - 'a touring bus' - visited St. Vincent's recently. It is a very special car equipped with carefully chosen teaching materials.  Its purpose was to inform our students about Germany and the German language.  German lecturers from the Goethe Institute in Dublin visited the German classes in the school giving the students an opportunity to communicate with native German speakers which was very beneficial in preparation for their upcoming oral exams in the Leaving Certificate.
The students enjoyed the visit and enjoyed the teaching methods of the team which aims to promote learning through fun and games. Many thanks to Ms. D. Twomey from the German Department in St. Vincent's for organising the visit.
