As we enter the Christmas season Christmas tests are looming in the very near future. Music Teacher
Ms. Á. Murphy and Art Teacher Ms. J. Neill decided to do Christmas Tests in a new and innovative manner. Paper and pens were dispensed with and for their Christmas assessments first year students made oral presentations to their peers in first and second year and to their teachers.
The Music class gave a concert including Andante, Oh When the Saints …, Ten Toe Topper and Jingle Bells to mention but a few. They concluded with a rousing rendition of ‘Do They Know it’s Christmas’ flooding around the Social Area.
The Art class gave presentations on how they made their ‘Me Bags’ and on their Digitally Manipulated Patterns which could form the basis for fabrics or carpets.
It was a very enjoyable event. It gave the students the opportunity to stand up in front of staff and students to give their presentations which not only added to their self confidence and self-esteem but also gave them a taste of public speaking which they will need later in life.
