St Vincent’s artists have done it again!
St Vincent’s Transition Year pupils took home the ‘Peoples’ Choice Art Award' 2017 from the My Education My Future Art Exhibition, run by the CIT in conjunction with Cork’s Life Long Learning Festival, now an annual event on the St Vincent’s Art Calendar. The girls worked as a group to create a large Lino Block Print which celebrates the life of Malala Yousafzai and the gift of education.
Well done girls, we are so proud of you once again!

Malala Yousafzai is a Pakistani activist for female education. In 2009 at the age of 11 she began writing a blog for the BBC explaining what life was like in Pakistan after Taliban forces ordered a complete ban on girls’ education. In 2012 when she was 14 years old she was shot in the head by the Taliban. Despite being critically injured Malala made a full recovery and went on to become a global spokesperson for girls’ education. She won the Nobel Peace Prize in 2014 at the age of 17. In her acceptance speech she said: ‘One Child, One Teacher, One Book and One Pen Can Change the World.’
