The Lord Mayor, Cllr. Des Cahill, visited our school recently. This Cork tradition of the first citizen visiting all schools in the city goes back to Lord Mayors Terence McSwiney and Tomás MacCurtin, who gave their lives for Irish independence. The Principal, Head Girl and Deputy Head Girl welcomed Cllr. Cahill to the school.
The Lord Mayor spoke about having a positive outlook on life and he spoke of the important place of women in politics. First year student Ava Tynan was delighted to make a presentation to the Lord Mayor on behalf of the school community. Aishling Horgan also from first year proudly invited the Lord Mayor to sign the Visitors’ Book.
All the students really enjoyed his visit to our school.
