Angela McGlynn from CIT presented SVSS Chemistry students and their teacher Ms. Dodd with a practical workshop entitled Spectroscopy in a Suitcase. The students used spectroscopy to identify a sample of material found at a fictitious crime scene and to solve a crime. The practical application of chemistry and the use of the spectrometers connected the students to the application of chemistry in real life. Spectroscopy in a Suitcase is a project funded by the Royal Society of Chemistry. This excellent event supports the study of STEM subjects in SVSS.
