We were delighted to host the A470 Big Band from Wales who entertianed the whole school with a selection of music ranging from Frank Sinatra standards, to Abba and 'The Final Countdown'!!! Ben the male vocalist with the band was very popular with the audience, some of who stayed back after the show for a photo opportunity!!!!
Mr. R. Barry aided and abetted by Transition Years and directed by Ms. S. Connolly and Ms. D. Allen entertained the school with a once off never to be repeated performance of Thriller in the school hall.
Congratulations to the St. Vincent's Senior soccer team who beat St. Mary's, Mallow 7-2 yesterday with both Sanhoon Carson and Amy O Connor scoring hat-tricks. Well done also to Chloe O Connor who save a penalty at a vital time in the game.
Congratulations to Jessica Lynch 5th Year who took second place in the Cuisle Young Poet of the Year competition with her poem 'Loving 6'. Jessica was presented with her award at the Dagda Arts Centre in Limerick on Saturday October 15th. Loving 6

Teachers teachers when will they know that with all these things I will still grow - Jessica Lynch Congratulations to Olivia Dupuy who captained the Cork basketball team to the All Ireland title last weekend October 22nd-23rd. Olivia has also been selected for the Irish team. Well done Olivia! Amy O Connor of Transition Year was a member of the Ireland Ladies Under 17 team that qualified for the Elite stages of the European Championships. The team beat Macedonia and Romania and drew with Italy to qualify to play against Germany and The Netherlands in Spring of 2012. Well done Amy! Our school was delighted to host a group of visitors from the various RSC ministries in Australia. The group spent a week in Ireland visiting the sites and places associated with Mary Aikenhead. We were paticularly delighted to meet Ms. Fay Gurr the principal of St. Vincent's College in Sydney. Soccer Teams attend Ireland International Soccer MatchMembers of the St. Vincent's soccer teams attended the Ireland -v- France ladies international soccer match at Turner's Cross. While the result did not go the way of the Irish team those attending enjoyed the experience of seeing a full international match being played in Cork. The deputy Lord Mayor Mr. Tony Fitzgerald was also in attendance an came to meet the Vincent's girls before the match. Guidance InspectionOur school received an excellent report in the recent inspection in the area of Guidance. Read more....... Summer WorksThe Board of Management is pleased to announce the completion of the Summer Works project for this year with the installation of new windows in the two Science laboratories on the top floor of the school. Transition Years attended a Drive 4 Life workshop. The Prefects and Vice-Prefects for 2011/12 have now been elected. We were delighted to welcome Sr. Rosaleen Crossan back to talk to 1st Year and 6th Year students about vocations. Sr. Rosaleen taught English and Religion in St. Vincent's for many years and is now based in Dublin. Respresentatives of Simon and Trocaire visited the school to give presentations to students on the work carried out by both organisations. We would like to thank Gurranabraher Credit Union for their sponsorship of a new trophy cabinet for the school. There was an Open Evening for prospective students and theri parents on Monday September 26th. The Lord Mayor visited our school on thursday September 29th. Parents of prospective students for the 2011/12 academic year should note that the closing date for applications is Friday October 14th at 3.30pm.
