Staff and students commemorated and reflected on the events of 1916. The National Flag received from the Thomas Francis Meagher Foundation was raised in pride of place over the Main Entrance. A narration of the Events surrounding the 1916 Proclamation was performed by the first year students from Class Aislinn. It involved a drama production of the events of Easter Week including a reading of the Proclamation, poetry from Pearse and Plunkett and the singing of the National. A major focus of the day was the unveiling and reading of St. Vincent’s Secondary School’s Proclamation for a New Generation by TY students Class Éanna. This document reflects their vision for a modern Ireland which embraces people from many nations and cultures. A display of project work focusing on the women of 1916 was also presented.
