22/5/2018

Congratulations to all SVSS students who had excellent punctuality for the 2017/18 academic year. Congratulations also to the students who made a significant improvement in their punctuality during the year.  Being on time for school each morning and being on time for each class is proof on the commitment that each student has made to her education. Many thanks to all parents for your support in the work of our school. Thank you to Ms. E. Lysaght for leading this successful initiative.

21/05/2018      SVSS Students Participate in North - South                                                                 Education Initiative

21/5/2018

SVSS students participated in a ‘Healthy Cities Network’ initiative in Belfast recently.  They formed part of a delegation between Cork and Belfast and participated in a major seminar which focused on projects and connections between the two cities. Eve Hannigan, Chloe Morey and Sarah Constant made a major presentation as part of the seminar, on the theme of the ‘Mind Your Head’ programme which is organised as part of the healthy cities initiative.
As well as participating in the seminar, students enjoyed a bus tour of Belfast city, viewing Belfast City Hall, Stormont and the Shankill Road.  Students were treated to dinner in Belfast City Hall with Belfast Lord Mayor, Nuala McAllister.  Conscious of the education links between North and South, students visited a local Primary School; where SVSS students met and engaged with students and staff from St. Joseph’s Primary School, Belfast.  SVSS students joined the Lord Mayor of Cork, Cllr. Tony Fitzgerald on this historic visit.
SVSS students and staff greatly appreciate the opportunity afforded by the Lord Mayor of Cork and counterpart Lord Mayor of Belfast – without whom, this visit would not have been possible.  Thanks also to SVSS Home School Liaison Teacher, Ms. M. Fitzgerald, who accompanied the students.
