On Monday, Katie Ward from ALCON made a STEM-based presentation to the senior Biology and Chemistry students about her work in the world of science and the importance of team work. Past pupils, currently working in science, returned to SVSS to share their experiences and career paths with the senior students. They highlighted the range of opportunities, pathways and supports available.
Past pupils Siobhan O’ Halloran, Clodagh Wyse, Rebecca Lyall and Melissa Walsh launched the SVSS Science Wall of Fame Project. Eimear Ferguson, from the Microbiotic Institute, UCC, spoke to students of the many opportunities available in science-based careers and the links between microbes in the gut, food and mental health. The third years launched their initiative to use recycled bottles to build a Christmas tree, as part of their sustainability project.
Thanks to students and Science staff Ms. R. Ferriter, Ms. F. Dodd and Ms. O. McGrath for a great Science Week.
